Karol Karnowski is a Senior Researcher at Physical Optics and Biophotonics (POB) Group. In 2013 he completed his PhD at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, where he has conducted pioneering works on ultrafast, fiber based, wavelength tunable lasers and their application in optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Prior to joining POB he held an Assistant Professor position at the Optical Biomedical Imaging Group (Nicolaus Copernicus University) and Research Fellow position at the Optical+Biomedical Engineering Laboratory (University of Western Australia). His recent works were focused on improving contrast of OCT imaging via spackle averaging, polarization or mechanical contrast. He is also interested in designing, fabrication and applications of fiber based imaging probes.
