Egidijus Auksorius is a senior researcher specializing in development of optical imaging techniques and its applications in biomedicine. He obtained his PhD in physics at Imperial College London in 2009. While at Imperial, he developed the first superresolution fluorescence lifetime imaging (STED-FLIM) microscope.

He carried out his postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and subsequently, at Insitut Langevin in Paris. There, he worked on full-field optical coherence microscopy. This work has lead to the development of a fingerprint sensor, which is able to image fingerprints inside of a finger.
