Visit Dawid Borycki in Neurophotonics Lab, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of California, Davis.
Noninvasive optical imaging in turbid media with microscopic resolution has multiple promising applications. For instance, such imaging can be used to visualize breast tumors to early detect and characterize any disorders and thus significantly increase the cure rate (because X-ray mammography cannot identify tumors at their early stage of development).
Prof. Wojtkowski’s group, participated in the European Conferences on Biomedical Optics ECBO 2017 organized by the Optical Society-OSA and International Society for Optics and Photonics-SPIE. This conference was an international meeting of scientists, engineers, and clinicians who work with optics and photonics.
Polish physical chemistry is joining forces with Chinese medical and molecular biology and biochemistry. In Tianjin an agreement has been signed on long-term cooperation between the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Nankai University, one of the highest ranked research units in China.
Strengthening internal integration aimed at joint research projects is among main goals of the CREATE project. For this reason, Professor Wojtkowski meets research groups from IPC to select synergetic teams, i.e. teams willing to closely cooperate with the ERA Chair holder. This action is expected to increase influence of the ERA Chair holder on IPC and quality of its studies.
Dawid Borycki participated in Microsoft Build 2017 conference to learn about new artificial intelligence, machine and deep learning toolkits, provided by Microsoft. Specifically, Professor Wojtkowski's team will utilize new modules of computer vision (CV) in several of ongoing projects.
Professor Wojtkowski, the ERA Chair holder, established at IPC a new specialized laboratory. The laboratory will serve researchers carrying out studies on the boarder of biology/medicine, chemistry, and physics
Advanced methods of optical imaging will be the main topic of research of the Department of Physical Chemistry of Biological Systems, cominginto being at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academyof Sciences under the prestigious European ERA Chairs grant.
Prof. Maciej Wojtkowski, physicist, head of the Physical Chemistry of Biological Systems Department currently coming into being at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Warsaw and winner of the prestigious European ERA Chairs grant talks to science journalist Jarek Chrostowski.
On the 3rd of October, 2016 the employees of the Institute holding a title of professor or a degree of habilitated doctor were selecting their representative for the Scientific Council. By decision of the majority, Professor Maciej Wojtkowski – the ERA Chair Holder was elected.
Reputable representatives from a sector of science (Professor Wilhelm Huck - Institute for Molecules and Materials, Radboud University, Nijmegen), business (Rafał Bator – Partner at Enterprise Investors, Justyna Garstecka – CEO and founder of Motherhood) and authorities (Mateusz Gaczyński – Deputy Director at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education) will be sitting on the CREATE Project Advisory Board. Professor Robert Hołyst from the Institute will be chairing the Advisory Board.
