We would like to invite you to submit a bid in a competition for the production of a short film promoting the department led by the ERA Chair holder, Professor Maciej Wojtkowski.
The film should show how the Department came about, the object of its activity, its achievements and its perspectives for development, including cooperation with other research units and business.
On the 22 – 23 February, 2018 Prof. dr. Jochen Blumberger, from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London, UK came to IPC. Prof. Blumberger delivered seminar composed of 2 parts:“Inorganic Interfaces, Organic Materials and Energy Converting Enzymes: The Power of Computational Chemistry”, “The Art of Leading a Research Group”
All researchers and PhD students employed at IPC were invited to participate in this seminar – the seminar was attended by approx. 70 people.
We encourage applicants for a position of a PhD student in the Physical Optics and Biophotonics Group – the successful candidate will carry out PhD studies under International Doctoral Studies at the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS, Warsaw, Poland.
We encourage applicants for Engineer (Optics/Automatics) position in the Physical Optics and Biophotonics Group, Department of Physical Chemistry of Biological Systems, Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS, Warsaw, Poland.
Polish physical chemistry is joining forces with Chinese medical and molecular biology and biochemistry. In Tianjin an agreement has been signed on long-term cooperation between the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Nankai University, one of the highest ranked research units in China.
Strengthening internal integration aimed at joint research projects is among main goals of the CREATE project. For this reason, Professor Wojtkowski meets research groups from IPC to select synergetic teams, i.e. teams willing to closely cooperate with the ERA Chair holder. This action is expected to increase influence of the ERA Chair holder on IPC and quality of its studies.

Noninvasive optical imaging in turbid media with microscopic resolution has multiple promising applications. For instance, such imaging can be used to visualize breast tumors to early detect and characterize any disorders and thus significantly increase the cure rate (because X-ray mammography cannot identify tumors at their early stage of development).
Professor Wojtkowski, the ERA Chair holder, established at IPC a new specialized laboratory. The laboratory will serve researchers carrying out studies on the boarder of biology/medicine, chemistry, and physics
Advanced methods of optical imaging will be the main topic of research of the Department of Physical Chemistry of Biological Systems, cominginto being at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academyof Sciences under the prestigious European ERA Chairs grant.
Prof. Maciej Wojtkowski, physicist, head of the Physical Chemistry of Biological Systems Department currently coming into being at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Warsaw and winner of the prestigious European ERA Chairs grant talks to science journalist Jarek Chrostowski.
